NVIDIA’s HGX platform is currently being used by high-tech industrial pioneer General Electric. They are applying HPC innovation to computational fluid dynamics simulations. This stimulation will guide the design innovation in large gas turbines and jet engines.

“The HGX platform has achieved order-of-magnitude acceleration for breakthrough CFD methods in GE’s GENESIS code, which employs Large Eddy Simulations to study the effects of turbulent flows inside turbines that are composed of hundreds of individual blades and require uniquely complex geometry,” said NVIDIA.

NVIDIA’s HGX platform is even accelerating scientific HPC systems around the world. The platform is also driving industrial HPC transformation. This includes the next next-generation supercomputer at the University of Edinburgh.

Tursa, their new DiRAC supercomputer, is the third out of four supercomputers to be announced by the company. They will allow researchers to carry out ultra-high-precision calculations. As the properties of subatomic particles are needed to be interpreted from massive particle data for physics experiments.

“DiRAC is helping researchers unlock the mysteries of the universe. Our collaboration with DiRAC will accelerate cutting-edge scientific exploration across a diverse range of workloads that take advantage of the unrivaled performance of NVIDIA GPUs, DPUs, and InfiniBand in-network computing acceleration engines,” said Gilad Shainer, senior vice president of networking at NVIDIA.

However, the company has only recently confirmed that with a new driver they have accidentally unlocked those restrictions.

Nvidia spokesperson, in a statement, said “A developer driver inadvertently included code used for internal development which removes the hash rate limiter on RTX 3060 in some configurations. The driver has been removed.”

While the company has now successfully removed the driver, the damage is already done. The company’s latest 470.05 beta driver has automatically unlocked performance and boosts the hashing rates for Ethereum mining for most RTX 3060 cards.

Mirrors can easily be very easily found online of the driver and the company will not be able to prevent RTX 3060 owners from continuing to use these drivers.

Originally, the company has restricted the RTX 3060 mining performance to steer crypto miners away from purchasing the cards. Despite this, the makers of GPU were confident that its restrictions couldn’t be defeated. In fact, they even claimed that it wasn’t just a driver holding back performance.

It’s not just a driver thing,” said Bryan Del Rizzo, Nvidia’s head of communications. “There is a secure handshake between the driver, the RTX 3060 silicon, and the BIOS (firmware) that prevents removal of the hash rate limiter.”

Nvidia was not intending to release a driver who would accidentally unlock its restrictions.

NVIDIA’s DLSS is a groundbreaking rendering technology that is powered by AI and takes visual fidelity to a whole new level. It also uses dedicated Tensor Core AI processors on GeForce RTX™ GPUs.

To boost frame rates and generate sharp and beautiful images for games, DLSS taps into the power of a deep learning neural network. With this, users will even get the performance headroom to increase output resolution and maximize ray tracing settings.

NVIDIA has developed a new approach for training generative adversarial networks (GAN). This new approach has the capacity to make AI suitable for a greater variety of tasks.

Before understanding NVIDA’s work let’s understand a little about GAN. It consists of two competing neural networks i.e., a generator and a discriminator. The goal of the first algorithm is to create new images and the second is to examine thousands of sample images.

Then it uses data to coach its counterpart and create believable results consistently. Traditional GANs tend to overfit and in such instances, the discriminator doesn’t have enough of a base to effectively coach the generator.

In the past, one way AI researchers have tried to get around this problem is by data augmentation or using an image algorithm. In such a case, distorting is a simple reason which means cropping an image, rotating it, or flipping it. Here, the network users see the exact same image twice.

The problem with this is, instead of creating something new, it would lead to a situation where the GAN would mimic those distortions.

NVIDIA’s new adaptive discriminator augmentation (ADA) approach uses data augmentation but also uses it adaptively. For instance, instead of distorting an image throughout the entire training process selectively. It will be just enough so that the GAN avoids overfitting.

NVIDIA’s approach is very meaningful than one might think as it can train an AI to write a new text-based adventure game. This is possible as there is very little material for the algorithm to work with.

However, we can’t say the same for a lot of other tasks where researchers could not turn to GANs for help. For example, training an algorithm to spot a rare neurological brain disorder precisely because of its rarity.

However, a GAN that has been trained with NVIDIA’s ADA approach can easily get around that problem. Researchers will be able to easily share their findings as an added bonus since they’re working from a base of images which is created by an AI.

Starts on December 6th, the company will share more information about ADA at the upcoming NeurIPS conference.

Nvidia, an American tech company based in Delaware, along with Hyundai Motor Group, a South Korean automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, have together announced that they will soon roll-out “Nvidia Drive connected car platform”.

They are rolling out their new platform across all new models from Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia, starting from 2022 onwards.

“Nvidia brought consumer electronic functionality and a graphics-rich user interface to infotainment systems more than a decade ago,” said Ali Kani, VP of autonomous vehicles at Nvidia.

“Now, we are once again transforming these systems through the power of AI, helping Hyundai Motor Group increase safety and value, along with enhancing customer satisfaction, throughout the lifetime of the vehicle.”

The technical collaboration between the two companies, Hyundai and Nvidia, enables them to develop high-performance connected car computing systems for Hyundai next-generation models.

In the future, all car models of Hyundai starting from entry-level to premium vehicles will feature in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems powered by Nvidia Drive.

Nvidia Drive will include a software and a hardware stack which will enable Hyundai’s IVI systems to combine their navigation, audio and video, connectivity, and AI-based car services.

Also, the Nvidia Drive platform is high-performance and energy-efficient meaning utilizing it for its future models will allow Hyundai to offer customers seamless and enhanced in-vehicle AI user experiences.

In the future, the customers of Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia will benefit from a feature-rich AI user experience.

The two companies have been working together since 2015 on this project. Nvidia Drive platform underpins the advanced IVI systems which can also be found in the Genesis GV80 and G80.

Besides, the two companies have collaborated on an advanced digital cockpit which will be launched late in 2021. This announcement will take the relationship between the two further, as Hyundai lays the foundations for IVI systems that support a wide range of features and apps across its entire model line-up.
